Research, Data, and Evaluation Internship

EdVestors advances equitable, meaningful education that prepares every Boston student to activate their power and shape their future. We are seeking a Research, Data, and Evaluation (RDE) Intern to support data management and analysis across multiple program areas and strategic initiatives, including BPS Arts Expansion, the East Boston Music Collective, Career Pathways, Mathematics, and the School on the Move Prize.

Responsibilities

With the support of the Director of Research, Data, and Evaluation (RDE), the intern will contribute in the following key areas:

  • Data Collection & Management (~40%): serve as the point person for collecting and managing data for the organization, including for each of the program areas; examples include the Annual BPS Arts Expansion survey, New Skills Boston annual metrics, the Mathematics HQIM tool, and the School on the Move selection process data
  • Evaluation Support (~20%): support the Director of RDE in planning and implementing internal evaluations of program activities, such as the East Boston Music Collective and the Bloomberg Arts Internship
  • Analysis & Reporting Support (~20%): support report writing for various projects and prepare data for funder requests such as reach and demographic data
  • Research Support (~20%): support landscape and desk research in partnership with EdVestors staff and/or partners
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An undergraduate degree, including relevant coursework and experience with quantitative research methods and statistics
  • An interest in developing and applying basic quantitative skills
  • Fluency with Excel, or an ability to upskill quickly
  • An ability to translate complex data into clear and digestible formats for a range of audiences
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to ask questions when stuck
  • A deep commitment to EdVestors’ mission of advancing racial equity in public education in Boston and alignment with EdVestors values

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Familiarity with common metrics used in K12 education
  • Teaching or school-based experience
  • Interest in building an understanding of the education and/or nonprofit landscape in Boston

Position details

This is a part-time, paid position (approximately 10-15 hours per week from August 2024 through May 2025, with flexibility) at a rate of $20-25 per hour. The intern can work remotely or has an option to work from our Back Bay office. Given the focus of our work, we have a preference for someone local to Boston.
