‘A comeback’: Mattahunt Elementary School wins $100,000 School on the Move prize

Being recognized for demonstrating an improved learning environment where students can excel, Mattahunt Elementary School on Tuesday was awarded the annual $100,000 School on the Move prize.

During the surprise announcement at Westin Copley Place, educators from Mattahunt began jumping, hugging, and crying, while cheers echoed across the ballroom.

The event, in its 19th year, was sponsored by EdVestors, a Boston-based education nonprofit. In addition to Mattahunt, Edvestors also honored two other public schools in Boston for excelling at fostering strong learning environments: Boston Adult Technical Academy and Josiah Quincy Elementary School.
