Viewpoint: New school year brings new opportunity for collaboration with BPS
As the calendar turns to a new school year in Boston, we welcome new Boston Public Schools superintendent Mary Skipper, who takes on the herculean charge of leading the state’s largest school district out of a profoundly difficult period in its history.
The new superintendent, students, educators and staff will need the full, immediate support of the business and nonprofit communities as we begin this fourth school year impacted by the pandemic.
Marinell Rousmaniere, Bob Giannino, president and CEO, United Way of Massachusetts Bay & Merrimack Valley and Chris Smith, President and Executive Director, Boston After School & Beyond, wrote a joint op-ed lifting up the role of nonprofits in mobilizing and coordinating the expertise and resources of hundreds of community-based organizations that provide necessary services and support the implementation of BPS’s mission and priorities.
